Owning Grief

Car repossessed
and behind on rent
phone shut off last month
and utilities
to follow soon
bank balance
not looking good
but we own our grief.

Can't even give it away
to the homeless guy
holding a sign by the freeway.
He says he has enough of his own.
Imagine that.
